John Roberts, Boys Head Soccer Coach for 2014-2015

Coach John Roberts is in his second season with the Pumas. He came from Higley High School, where he was the girls varsity coach from 2002-06, boys varsity coach from 2009-2012 and again the girls varsity coach in the 2012-2013 season. During that time, he has received two coach of the year awards and two region coach of the year awards while winning a state championship in 2006, as well as a state runner up in 2004. He has been coaching soccer for 28 years at various levels including 18 years at the club level in California and Arizona. He has coached teams to numerous league and division titles, two state titles in club and three state runners up appearances at the club level. He is a nationally certified coach and he is blessed to have coached two national team players.

Born and raised in Southern California, Roberts came to Arizona in 1993. He has taught Special Education at Florence and Higley High Schools. He started playing soccer at the age of 5 and started playing club soccer at the age of 13. After playing for his high school soccer team, he briefly played collegiately before meeting his wife of 27 years. Roberts and his wife, Staci, have four beautiful children, Sarah (26), Samantha (24), Shayla (23), and John (21). Coach Roberts also teaches Special Education for Perry HS.
