Hamilton CTE Culinary Arts StudentsVisit Hamilton High WebsiteReport a Problem with Item A003654Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Nirvana was a four day event held at the Sanctuary resort in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Around 30 students participated in the event as Chefs' assistance. They had the privilege to work alongside great Chefs as Beau Macmillan, Todd English, Robert Irvine, Francois de Melogue as well as 40 local chefs from around the Valley. Students made a great impression with every chef they worked with. He was invited to attend as the recipient of the FIRST Deans List Award at the Arizona West Regional earlier in April. He was one of only two students given this award, and the only student from Arizona. Torri competed in the Arizona State Championships, placing 4th in the All Around. She made the Regionals and placed 2nd in the All Around, receiving her highest scores and her personal best on all 4 events. Torri placed 1st at Regionals on beam with a score of 9.650! Several students showed their chickens, and Mathew Schmidt's rooster sold at auction for $250. Students did fantastic at the showmanship portion of the fair, which included how to handle chickens to demonstrating in-depth knowledge about chickens. Hamilton boasts a record 2,333 exams given in May, an increase of over 400% from 2006-2016. Mrs. Kuo, our Mandarin Chinese teacher, had several celebration activities planned to share the spring festival culture with the school. Students performed the traditional Chinese dragon and lion dance. Several booths were set-up in the hallway to show the Chinese culture. The theme of this year's competition was "We're going places - The importance of travel and exchange in achieving peace." Hamilton High School students participated in the creative expression competition and won several awards in the performance art 9-12th grade category, winning: 1st - Aarthi Ram, 2nd - Anitha Ramadoss, 3rd - Natalie Putnam, Sophia Franco, and Eamlee Schneider.
