Welcome to Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School, home of the Huskies! I am a native of Iowa and obtained my undergraduate degree from Iowa State University. Go Cyclones! While in college, I had the opportunity to study in Cuernavaca, Mexico. After college, I was a bilingual teacher in inner-city Houston. I started teaching kindergarten and worked my way up to second grade. My husband and I relocated to Arizona during the summer of 1998. Once in Arizona, I taught at San Marcos elementary for four years and then moved to an instructional specialist position within the district. My administrative career began at Santan Elementary in 2004. I was an Assistant Principal for one year, and the Principal for seven years. Most recently, I joined the Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. I am very excited to be a part of the community, and look forward to getting to know each and every one of you!
In addition to my undergraduate degree, I have two Masters degrees. One degree is in Curriculum and Instruction and the other is in Educational Leadership. I also hold an administrative certificate.
I live in Chandler with my husband, son, father and two dogs. My son, Sam, is a product of Chandler Schools. In my free time, I love spending time with my family, reading, traveling and participating in fun runs.
As stated earlier, I am very proud to be your principal. I believe that relationships are crucial to the success of our students. The Hartford Sylvia Encinas staff is top-notch and does an outstanding job of maximizing instructional time. I have an open-door policy and encourage your input.
Respectfully,
Heather L. Anguiano
