Welcome to Andersen Junior High School, home of the Jaguars!

My name is Anne Cordasco.  I have been at AJHS for 8 years and have worked in Chandler School District for 20 years.  I look forward to working with you and your students.  Junior high can be tricky and emotional for parents as well as students but have no fear, we are here to help!  Please feel free to contact me.

Educational Background

I graduated from NAU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education,

(K-8).  My Master of Education degree is in Educational Counseling and I also have certification in Administration.

Professional Background

I have been in the field of education for more than 20 years.  While I am currently the Assistant Principal at Andersen Junior High School, I have experience as a classroom teacher, school counselor and special education facilitator.

Education Philosophy

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher.  Regardless of what position I have held in the field of education, I consider myself first a teacher and a learner. Students in junior high are in a growing process.  Academic rigor is the primary focus but students at this age are also trying out new behaviors and new ideas.  While they do need room to grow, they have a need for structure.  Being able to provide both is a conscious dance.  Learning should be fun and engaging, consequences should include natural outcomes.

The Choice Is Yours
Chandler School District is the place to be!

AJHS is one of many outstanding schools in Chandler Unified School District.  The school's motto, “Make a difference” is evidenced in all that we do.  Lessons and programs designed at AJHS are not only data driven, but also are reflective of our students' needs, achievements, and interests. We strive to build challenging and academically rigorous courses for our students while still providing the support and scaffolding students need to be successful with the challenges of junior high.  Besides a strong focus on academics, we also encourage students to participate in community service opportunities. We promote this to help our students realize the power of making a difference in the community or in someone else's life.

We also have adopted the old African proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child."  Whether custodians, cafeteria workers or teachers and administration, everyone works together to help children be successful at AJHS. We firmly believe in helping children in whatever way we can, so they are both academically and socially successful at our school. With the entire staff coming together to help, our students feel connected to our school, the staff, and are engaged and happy to be here at AJHS. We truly strive to “Make a difference” in all that we do, and we hope your child will enjoy being a part of our AJHS family.
