My name is Brenda Ramos and I am the Dean and Athletic Director at AJHS. I have been at AJHS for the past seven years in various roles, and in education for the past eleven years. Junior High is an exciting, and evolving time for adolescents and I am eager to help during this transition in anyway I can.

Mi nombre es Brenda Ramos, soy la Decano de Estudiantes y  Directora de Athletismo.  Tengo 11 años de experiencia en la Educacion de las cuales 7 de ellos los he servido aqui en la AJHS, 3 años como Maestra de Educacion Especial y los siguientes 3 años como Consejera del Octavo Grado.  La Intermedia es una etapa primordial y muy importate para los adolecente y estoy ansiosa en ayudar y servirles en la mejor manera posible.

Educational Background

I graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education for mild to moderate disabilities (K-12). Since then, I have earned a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in School Guidance Counseling.

Me gradue de la Universidad con Bachillerato de Sciencias en Educacion Especial y Diferencial (K-12).  Desde ese entonces he obtenido una Maestria en Administracion Educacional y tambien soy Certificada en Consejeria Estudiantil.

Professional Background

I have had many roles in education from classroom co-teacher, to school counselor, to an administrative leadership role. I have worked with a variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I have experience working at an inner city school district and I have taught in self contained classrooms as well as in inclusion classrooms.

Durante mi tiempo en AJHS he tenido el privilegio de ser Maestra, Consejera y actualmente soy parte de la Administracion.  He trabajado con una variedad de estudiantes de diferentes personalidades.  Tengo experiencia en enseñar educacion especial independiente como tambien con ellos mismos en clases regulares.

Educational Philosophy

Growing up, I had the luxury of attending a great school with nurturing teachers, counselors and administrators. My hopes are that while your student attends AJHS, that he/she has these same opportunities. We encourage our students to learn, grow, and discover their talents.  This helps our students  to dream big and aspire to be the best they can be.  Also, I believe a part of growing and maturing is learning from one’s mistakes.  AJHS is a safe place where students can be themselves, and upon making mistakes, we ask them to learn to take responsibility and teach them how to handle situations differently.

Durante mis años de escuela, tuve el lujo de asistir a una gran escuela en la cual los maestros, consejeros y el plantel Administrativo me trataron con mucho cariño y respeto.  Espero que mientras los estudiante asistan a esta escuela, ella/el tengan la misma experiencias y oportunidades.  Por esto nosotros nos encargamos que ellos aprendan, crezcan y descubran sus metas, sueños y talentos para que asi se projecten mejor en el futuro.  Tambien creemos que parte de esta etapa de adolecencia,  los estudiantes maduren y aprendad de sus erros.  AJHS es un lugar donde pueden ser ellos mismos y nos encagamos que ellos aprendan hacer responsables de sus propios actos y a manejar las situaciones dificiles de una manera diferente. 

Personal Interests

I especially enjoy going to AJHS’s athletic games, to cheer and encourage students to be a part of a team. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family hiking, biking, and cooking. My extended family lives in Puerto Rico and Ohio, and I look forward to their visits and going to see them as well.

Me encanta ir a los juegos de los equipo de nuestra escuela, para animar el equipo. Afuera del escuela, paso el tiempo con mi familia montando bicicleta, cocinando, y hacer caminata de pie. El resto de mis extensa familia vive en Puerto Rico y en Ohio y con mucho animo espero la visita de ellos y tambien poder visitarles a ellos tambien.

AJHS is truly a place where students feel safe, cared for, and supported. We offer parents and students different types of classroom settings, from single gender to mixed gender classes, while also including all students to the Middle Years Program curriculum. Students involved in athletics are very fortunate to work with veteran coaches, who have genuinely mastered the art of coaching.  Chandler Unified School District offers parents a variety of choices for their children at all levels, and we are proud to offer exclusive programs that assist students in achieving academic success during their junior high school years.

AJHS es una escuela que verdaderamente ofrece seguridad, calidad y apoyo.  Ofrecemos a los padres y a los estudientas diferentes tipos de clases, del mismo genero (niños o niñas) o mixtas.  Tambien los estudiante que participan en deporte durante el ano tienen la oportunidad de trabajar con buenos  Entrenadores y de mucha experiencia. El Distrito de Chandler ofrece una variedad de opciones para los padres de este nivel, y estamos  orgullosos de ofrecer programas exclusivos que asisten a los estudiante a tener mejor exito en su nivel educativo.
