Media Center Staff

Mr. Novak
Mr. Novak has been working for the Chandler Unified School District in various capacities since 2001 and has been Hull's media specialist since 2007.  He has a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from California State University, Northridge in Southern California and completed his post-baccalaureate work at Arizona State University to earn his Arizona teaching certificate.

Mr. Novak is very passionate about reading and writing, and he loves coming to work and being surrounded by books and computers! He understands that Hull students are immersed in a digital world and he enjoys challenging his students to explore new programs, express themselves dynamically using multimedia tools, and helping his students to acquire the knowledge and skills to use electronic media safely, effectively, and wisely.  He is also very proud of Hull students' eagerness to learn and their computing prowess!  His students often inform him of new products and new (easier) ways of doing things!

When he's not at school (which is often), Mr. Novak enjoys spending time with his lovely wife Kim (a seventh/eighth-grade socials studies teacher at CUSD's Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus. His son, Everett (just finished his associate's degree at Chandler-Gilbert Community College) is planning to attend the University of Oregon. His daughter, Alyson (a senior at Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus) is active in the ACP-Erie drama company and planning for college.  Hull Elementary is in the Novaks' blood as both parents have taught there, and both children are alumni!  The Novaks also have two wild-and-crazy Yorkie-Silky mix pups named Cooper and Cody, and a 12-year-old cantakerous Siamese cat named Mushu.

Listening to National Public Radio (NPR), following news and current events, hanging out with his mom and dad, and planning for the Hull Media Crew, also fill up his days.
 
 
Mrs. Parrilla Mrs. Parrilla has been working at Hull Elementary in various roles since 2008.  She joined the Hull library team in 2010 and loves being surrounded by books!!  Prior to joining the Hull team she worked at the Arizona Republic for over 23 years.  She retired from the Arizona Republic when her son, Andrew, was getting ready to start his first year of school as a kindergartner at Hull Elementary.

Mrs. Parrilla loves to read!!  She loves to encourage our students to read, and she teaches students to inspire others to read too!!  

Some of Mrs. Parrilla’s hobbies are reading, scrapbooking, attending her children’s sporting events,  and spending time with her family.  She has two children, a 6th grader that attends Hull and an 8th grader that attends SanTan Jr. High.  One of her favorite things to do is to go to Maui with her family and spend time snorkeling, taking tours to see the dolphins, enjoying the sunrise and sunset on the beach.
