Art Masterpiece

Art Masterpiece is a volunteer run program which promotes art literacy in elementary classrooms.  Six lessons a year are prepared for the volunteer Art Guides to teach.  Each lesson consists of an example of a work of art by a particular artist, a short discussion about an art concept illustrated by that work, and a project that explores the concept.

Can't tell a Picasso from a Leonardo?

No problem! Our Art Masterpiece Program will teach you everything you need to know, so that you can go with confidence into your child's classroom. We provide the lesson plan, the materials and all the training you need.

At Jacobson we pride ourselves in making it as easy as possible for you to come in and help us teach your child about fine art! We have an amazing Art Masterpiece Board and Grade Level Coordinators that consist of dedicated Jacobson parents who love the program and assist in training our marvelous volunteers with monthly training sessions held prior to each lesson. We follow a set curriculum which progresses with the children from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Your time commitment is only two hours a month. One hour for training and an hour in the classroom. There are six lessons throughout the year (September, November, December, January, February and April). In March we hold our Annual Spring Art Show which is a magnificent display of our students' artwork.

The kids love art and look forward to our monthly lessons. Once you see the smiles and excitement on their faces as you walk into the classroom you'll be hooked! Art Masterpiece will become one of your most fun and rewarding jobs at Jacobson Elementary. Please join us in making this a very memorable experience in your child's classroom.
