Dear Riggs’ Families,

    As I am writing this letter, I am astounded that the end of the 2012-2013 school year is near. We have had an extremely successful year at Riggs Elementary and I am so very proud of the accomplishments that our students and staff have achieved. I believe this success can be attributed to your support and caring attitude, to our admirable staff members who have gone through many challenges and changes this year and still, nurtured the growth and development of our students, and to our amazing students! It truly has been my pleasure to be your child’s principal this year!

    The week of May 6th is National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. The staff at Riggs is wonderful and I am so fortunate to work along side all of these remarkable individuals. The teaching staff, front office, health assistant, custodians, paraprofessional classroom aides, cafeteria workers, crossing guard and bus drivers are truly OUTSTANDING! They all work together as a team to educate and take exceptional care of our students. I don’t believe you could find a more dedicated staff anywhere! If possible, please take the opportunity to let our excellent staff know how much you appreciate their daily efforts in providing a quality education and positive learning environment for your children. Just a few kind words leave a warm and lasting impression!!

    The Riggs PTO has again supplied an incredible amount of support for our students and staff. With the introduction of the extremely successful Boosterthon this year they have raised well over $45,000 which helped to sponsor numerous community events, teacher/classroom grants, and school supplies and equipment such as Common Core literature, Accelerated Reader and class online subscriptions. If you haven’t attended a meeting, I encourage you to become involved in this worthwhile organization.  PTO Officers will be elected at the next meeting on May 8th and I hope to see you there!
