IMPACT Chandler Scholars program:
Formerly known as the VISION: CollegeBound Scholars (VCB) program, IMPACT Chandler Scholars (ICS) is primarily a recognition reward program for Chandler Unified School District high school students. IMPACT Chandler Scholars (formerly VCB Scholars) who complete the program by demonstrating academic excellence, exemplary attendance, and a commitment to service in the community over four years of high school often qualify for scholarship and financial aid opportunities their senior year. IMPACT Chandler Scholars are unique in that they are prepared academically to succeed in college while understanding and embracing what it means to be committed and active citizens.
In an effort to increase the value of the IMPACT Chandler Scholars program, while still meeting the needs of our growing school district, the Chandler Education Foundation is utilizing our resources to offer greater rewards and help students in being better prepared for college.
Beginning with the Class of 2015:
- In addition to meeting the standard requirements for the ICS program (please see the IMPACT Chandler Scholars Information for Students page), 35 of the student’s community service hours must be completed and submitted to the CEF office prior to the start of their junior year.
- A reliable e-mail address for the student and parent/guardian must be provided on the Student Participation Commitment Form.
Changes to the program: ICS is a recognition program with the potential for a financial reward based on the availability of designated funds. Rather than getting an equally divided amount of the funds designated for ICS, IMPACT Chandler Scholars will now have the opportunity to compete for one of multiple $1,000 scholarships from the Chandler Education Foundation their senior year. As a part of the scholarship application process, students will be asked to reflect on how their community service opportunities have made an impact on them, on their community, and on their future.
